A writer accuses the UN of Nepotism, corruption, anti-Semitism and now censorship! Stephen Brown wrote, saying: While the United Nations has disgraced itself over the years with sporadic eruptions of the first three negatives, it added another one last March 28 when its Human Rights Council passed a disturbing resolution that directs the body’s expert on free speech to report on “individuals and news media for negative comments on Islam.”

Complacency .. A Crime!?
“I want to tell you about the worst crime I’ve heard of in recent days. I’m not talking about the yearly suicide bombings, or the bimonthly “sectarian clashes” that leave a hundred or more dead every year, or even the rampant police brutality that’s recently (finally!) been exposed to the world. Rather, I’m talking about a crime that many Egyptians and even more Copts are guilty of, the crime of complacency.

Under the title "Hypocrisy masquerading as diversity," writer and TV presenter Tarek Fatah, criticized whom he called self-styled Canadian Muslim leaders for asking the Canadian government to fund a study to find the "root cause" of home grown terrorists, after the recent arrest of 17 Muslims allegedly plotted to carry out acts of teror in Canada. Fattah directed his criticism against the Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC) and the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) as well as the Muslim Students Association.

     The UN Working Group on Minorities (WGM) will hold its 12th session at the UN offices in Geneva between the 8th - 11th of August, 2006.

The Canadian Egyptian Organization for Human Rights has been active in the work of the WGM from its beginning, and is going to participate in the upcoming session where it will present the Coptic problem and some proposed solutions within the framework of International laws.
