CEOHR’s philosophy as epitomized in its logo
We, at the Canadian Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, believe that the cornerstone of human rights is justice for all members of the human family, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion or religious belief, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin. By “justice” we mean “the quality of being just, fair, or in conformity with what is right or legal.”
As a moral and legal concept, “justice” has been implanted in the human conscience since the very beginning of man’s journey in history. Its application, however, continues to evolve, as societies become more civilized.
The annals of the ancient Egyptian civilization dating back to 2686 BC, for example, tell us about a divine source of justice: the goddess Ma’at, whom ancient Egyptians personified as a seated woman wearing an ostrich feather. Linguistically, we should note, the word “Ma’at” also expressed the concepts of justice and truth.
CEOHR’s logo is composed of two elements: Ma’at, the Egyptian goddess of justice, and the red maple leaf, Canada’s national emblem.
OUR MISSION is to contribute to societal peace and human development. As a dedicated member of the civil society, CEOHR has the qualifications and the vision to participate in effecting change.
